I am also a fan of flower cars. You don't see many of these cars anymore. I guess most people just don't want to pay to have a car full of flowers follow along in the funeral procession. Here is a 1955 Cadillac Flower Car. What a beauty!
But there are not any flowers on the car? I would hate to think of the cost of add flower to fill the top of the car's "bed"! BTW, what is stored under the "bed" of the flower car???
I do wish the car had flowers in back of it, but like you hinted, the cost would be outrageous for just a hearse show or casual drive. Some flower cars allow for a casket to fit under the flower table, thus the flower car can serve a dual purpose as a hearse and flower car. Many of the flower beds can be raised or lowered depending on the heights of the flowers being displayed. Pretty cool!
The casket went in under the "bed". Since many relatives ask for donations in lieu of flowers requests for that specialty car has diminished. And like the hearses and limos the car bodies and frames were sent to customizers. A flower car was like adding another hearse or limo to the fleet so eliminating was more cost effective. And many too ask that after the funeral ceremonies the flower arrangements be sent to local hospitals when possible
